Student Housing
Leave Your Legacy at Darden: A New Home for Darden Students in Charlottesville
As a top-ranked business school known for its case method learning and a strong emphasis on leadership development, Darden is committed to providing its students with the best possible educational experience. That commitment has inspired Darden to create a new home for students on its Charlottesville Grounds.
In March 2024, the University of Virginia Board of Visitors' Buildings and Grounds Committee approved a schematic design for the Darden Student Housing project. The project broke ground late in October 2024. Construction is expected to be finished by the spring of 2027, with the first students moving in by June 2027.
State-of-the-Art Amenities
We're excited to announce the development of a new student housing complex. This project reflects our commitment to creating a vibrant and holistic learning community inspired by Thomas Jefferson's original vision of an Academic Village.
The complex, which will give priority to Full-Time MBA students based in Charlottesville, will feature 218 thoughtfully designed units, providing 348 beds across a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments. Students will enjoy immediate access to the Grounds and state-of-the-art amenities, including:
- Dining facilities
- Study spaces
- Recreational areas
- Landscaped courtyards
Location & Significance
The new student housing will be located on North Grounds, strategically expanding Darden’s facilities to accommodate 60% of its student population. This project will help address housing shortages in Charlottesville, where 89% of Darden students currently live within walking distance, and 11% commute from further distances.
